Sunday 20 April JIMMY OWEN
Jimmy Owen is an electric and acoustic virtuoso/ singer songwriter who is now forging a path as a solo artist following the well received Lethbridge Owen album in 2019.
Plans are underway for Jimmy to cut his first album under his own name in Austin, Texas on invitation from Chris Maresh, bassist of the legendary Eric Johnson, with whose harmonic wizardry and dexterity Jimmy is often compared.
Jimmy first picked up a guitar aged 16 and felt an instant affinity to the instrument – in his words, he “couldn’t sleep because it was time away from playing”. A few months later Jimmy was honoured to be invited to David Gilmour’s house and given the run of his instruments, including his famous Fender Strat, from which point his future career was fixed in his mind.
At 18 Jimmy was given an unconditional offer to study at the British Institute of Modern Music where he was taught by and subsequently performed with world-renowned guitarist Guthrie Govan (Hans Zimmer). He is now delighted to call some of his former tutors band-mates in Lethbridge Owen or colleagues at BIMM where he now holds a lecturer post.
The range of his influences helps explain the variety in his own songwriting: from Eric Johnson and Hendrix to Pat Metheny, Alan Holdsworth and David Gilmour, and – beyond guitar – from John Coltrane to Chet Atkins and from Rachmaninov to Bach.

As Dennis explains; “These intimate DENMARK shows really highlight the virtuosity of Mark and proves why he is considered one of the best Harmonica players in the world. We also get to show where and why we formed a blues band in the middle of the Punk scene back in the 70’s and we get to make a trip together with the audience, through the history of black culture and the legacy of Blues Music and the influence it’s had on world music.”

In 2012 he co-founded Radio 68 to realise the dream of independent broadcasting, on a radio station completely free from playlists, advertising and given over to interesting music outside of the mainstream.
While his brother Dan, concentrated on art and prog rock, Eddy broadcast two shows called ‘My Generation’ and ‘Keepers of the Blue Flame’ – with both shows spanning that arc that took blues into rock and roll and pop.
